OUR PEOPLE

Jack A. Kelly Dip.FAA, Dip.FD

Director
I am one of the directors of J. A. Kelly Independent Funeral Directors, I am 28 years old, a husband and (newly) dad (again) to Ada, Albert and Arthur.
I have been part of the funeral industry since I was 17 years old. I have worked for other funeral homes since the beginning of my career and still am called upon to assist other funeral directors regularly.
I have always been very passionate about my vocation and am privileged to be able to help families at what is some of their darkest times.
I am a fully qualified funeral director (which other funeral directors may not be as it is not a statutory regulation) holding both my Diplomas in Funeral Arranging and Funeral Directing through the National Association of Funeral Directors.
I was born and raised in LS14 and as a local lad, since starting in the industry it has been my dream to be able to serve and give back to the community around me.
When I’m not at work, I enjoy my rugby league and still play for my local amateur club Seacroft Sharks, and we also enjoy our family time together doing whatever we can to get out and about usually to wherever the kids have decided to go
It is the privilege of my life to be able to help people who are in need and I thank all families who trust me to look after them and their loved ones!

Martin Corkett Cert.FAA, Dip.FD, BIE Assoc.

Director
I am one of the directors of J. A. Kelly Independent Funeral Directors alongside my son-in-law, Jack. I am a husband, dad and grandad, and have dedicated my entire working life to serving others within our local community.
I first began my career in the 1980s working as an undertaker for two well-known Leeds funeral firms. Those early years taught me the importance of dignity, attention to detail and, most importantly, compassion. Supporting families at their most difficult times has always been something I have felt deeply privileged to do.
Following this, I spent 30 years serving with West Yorkshire Fire Service. During that time the fire service strengthened my resilience, leadership and unwavering commitment to the wellbeing of others.
After retiring from the fire service pre covid, I returned to the funeral industry doing casual work with Jack — My passion for the industry immediately came back which led to the opening of J. A. Kelly Independent Funeral Directors in Cross Gates.
I hold my Diploma in Funeral Directing (DipFD), a Certificate in Funeral Arranging and Administration (CertFAA), and I am an Associate of the British Institute of Embalmers (B.I.E.Assoc). I am also a member of the Independent Funeral Directors College and SAIF – The National Society of Allied and Independent Funeral Directors. These qualifications reflect my commitment to maintaining the highest professional standards and ensuring every family receives the care they deserve.
Having lived and worked in this community for many decades, it means a great deal to me and its an honour to support families through some of life’s most difficult days, and I am truly grateful to everyone who places their trust in us.
